The Perfect Tree

I had a big project over this past week were I had to take pictures of my 'perfect tree'. I knew what tree the minute I was given the assignment. Near the end of my road and just around the corner there is this big tree in an empty field that I always look at whenever I go past it. So that is the tree I photographed. We had to get an image at sunrise, noon, sunset and moonlight. However the whole week was overcast and raining so I had a hard time getting some of them. These are a few of my favourites.

Noon:

Sunrise:
...except there wasn't really much sun.

Sunset:

Night:
There was no moon and it was very overcast. We were only allowed to use available light so this one was hard, because the only real light came from the barn over the hill.

Light Graffiti

In one of my classes this week we started talking about painting with light and light graffiti. So me and two friends decided to try it out. These are a few of our favourites!

Our attempt at the batman symbol, it's harder then you think, but it turned out pretty good.

This is supposed to look like they're having a battle with wands and magic. Harry Potter style...

A turkey...

A very round man whose legs were a little to high up. So we decided that he is sitting down. You just can't see the chair.

After, there were some candles sitting around and I just love the light that they give off.

Panning

This is two different assignments that I did at the same time. For one assignment I needed action shots, and for another I had to try out a new technique that we just learned, called panning. Panning is where you move your camera with the subject, it stays clear and everything else blurs. It's almost never perfect but always looks cool. So here are some of my favourite shots from the day. I went with my neighbour when she went to her barn to ride her horse. :P

The first two were just for fun.

Wednesday 5 October 2011

For this assignment we had to spell out our names using images that we took. So I had to run around and find things that looked like the letters in my name. Some letters were super easy to find and others were really hard. Here are the individual letters.

Portrait

Another assignment was to shoot a head and shoulders portrait in different lighting with different coloured backgrounds. The idea was to see how the colour of the background, along with the lighting, would effect the shot. These are some of my favourites.

Feather Weight

Last week one of my assignments was to photograph a feather. This is what I ended with, not quite what I had in mind but I still like it. The sun wasn't cooperating with me, but what can you do.

Good Bye Summer

I was thinking today that summer is defiantly gone with this cold weather. And it had me thinking back over the summer and some of the best parts of it. I went camping with a bunch of friends from high school and on the first night there was a beautiful sunset. These are a few of my favourite shots.
